Emerson has introduced the Fisher WhisperTube Modal Attenuator for noisy gasoline or vapour applications, which offers noise reduction in compressible fluid service for improved worker safety, with no influence on process circulate.

The modal attenuator from Emerson is a full-bore device providing 15-decibel sound suppression to scale back noise inside pipes produced by sources upstream, corresponding to control valves or other gadgets. It is put in downstream of these units instead of a pipe spool piece, it generates no further pressure drop, and has no influence on process circulate.
Until now, all options have generated significant stress drop, decreased move, and/or introduced obstructions.
