According to data from classification society DNV, orders for 56 dual-fuel LNG vessels have been positioned in January and February.This change in demand has created quite a buzz at Svanehøj. The Danish marine pump specialist quadrupled gross sales of its patented deepwell fuel pumps in 2021, and there are lots of indications that sales could increase even further in 2022.
Svanehøj has just secured an order for gas pump systems for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), that are to be built at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The whole of 30 deepwell gas pumps might be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is among Svanehøj’s largest regarding LNG fuel thus far. It is the second time inside the final 12 months that this buyer has chosen Svanehøj because the provider of LNG gasoline pump methods. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until a quantity of years ago, the use of LNG as a marine gasoline was limited to LNG carriers and smaller ships. But we at the moment are seeing a sharp enhance in fuel pump orders for deep sea vessels similar to container ships and car carriers. Large investment in lean manufacturing and new tools
To assist the green transition of the maritime business, Svanehøj is currently investing more than DKK 10 million in upgrading its production amenities in Denmark. A new manufacturing unit format with manufacturing cells and robotics will support Svanehøj’s formidable progress technique and cut back lead instances for all merchandise.
“We have made a strategic determination to implement lean manufacturing. By rethinking our processes, we expect to increase productivity and capability by up to 50%,” says Mikkel Bülow Bundgaard Sørensen, Lean Specialist, Svanehøj.
Svanehøj has entered 2022 with a new strategy and a target of doubling its turnover to DKK 1 billion ($152 million) by the top of 2026. In addition to fuel pumps for LNG, LPG, and carbon-neutral fuels, Svanehøj sees nice potential in growing pump options for the infrastructure to be built round Power-to-X and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
